Risk Assesment The risk assessment is undertaken as part of our Historical Desktop Study (HDS), using evidence from local and national archives, Ministry of Defence records, local histories, WW2 reconnaissance and modern aerial photography and Police records. The evidence will indicate the type of ordnance that may still lie within a site, the depth at which the ordnance sits, in addition to indicating the "likelihood of encounter" given the type of development proposed for the site in question. With data from modelling of the consequences of that encounter, a level of UXO-related risk can be applied to a site and recommendations made for sensible risk mitigation solutions.
The risk level is presented within risk assessment matrices, allowing the Client to see how it has been reached and therefore why a particular UXO risk management solution has been proposed. Detailed planning allows for fixed price quotations for UXO survey.
